Create a Time Blocked Schedule That Drives Results

eLearning Course

Project Overview

This personal project is an interactive eLearning course designed to help tech project managers improve deadline performance by teaching a structured time-blocking process. Through guided practice, learners categorize tasks, prioritize work, estimate time, and build a weekly time blocked schedule they can immediately apply in their day-to-day work.

Challenge

This personal project was based on my experience working with tech project managers. Many struggle to balance competing priorities and consistently meet project deadlines, impacting team schedules and overall project success.

Despite having clear project plans in place, project managers often feel overwhelmed by competing demands, leading to inefficiencies, missed deadlines, and increased stress. A key challenge is their ability to effectively prioritize tasks and allocate time in a way that supports timely delivery.

Solution

To address this challenge, I designed an interactive eLearning course that introduces tech project managers to a structured, four-step time blocking process. Learners practice categorizing tasks, prioritizing work using the Eisenhower Matrix, estimating time realistically, and scheduling tasks into a weekly time blocked calendar.

The course includes a guided walkthrough where learners apply the process to a realistic project manager workflow alongside ACE, a chatbot-inspired character. It also features practice activities using realistic tasks. By the end of the training, learners create their own time blocked schedule. They are prepared to apply the process on the job and must check-in with their managers regularly in order to support accountability and long-term behavior change.

Result

As a result of this training, tech project managers are expected to more effectively plan and manage their time using a structured time blocking process. By consistently creating and maintaining weekly time blocked schedules, project managers can better prioritize high-impact work, allocate time realistically, and reduce the likelihood of missed deadlines.

Over time, this is expected to improve on-time deadline delivery, with a target increase of up to 30% within six months. Additional indicators of success may include improved task prioritization, more consistent weekly planning habits, and increased confidence in managing competing priorities. Success can be measured by tracking deadlines met versus missed over time and reviewing weekly schedules during manager check-ins.
